What is the registration fee to participate in the 2021 Heart of the City 5K virtual event?
Registration is FREE this year but you can add our signature event T-shirt for $20 when you register! All participants are eligible to receive a complimentary face mask.
What is an Acts of Kindness Challenge?
o The Acts of Kindness Challenges aligns with our core mission of humankindness and our goal is to reach 5,000 acts of kindness together.
o We will provide participants with a digital Acts of Kindness Bingo Card. One Bingo Card will be pre-filled and the other will be blank. To learn more about our Acts of Kindness Challengeclick here.
How many Acts of Kindness activities/acts could participants complete?
Participants are encouraged to complete as many activities/acts as possible to help reach our 5,000 acts of kindness goal.
How will my Acts of Kindness activities/acts be recognized?
We will highlight individual participants, and teams through weekly rankings on social media and on our event website.
Can I still do a traditional 5K Run/Walk?
Yes you can! A traditional 5K will count as 5 acts of kindness since it’s a great wellness activity!
Can children participate as well?
Yes! We encourage you to involve your children and have them complete their own bingo card. We will have a kid-friendly bingo card available for download.
Why should I ask my family, friends and colleagues to donate to my personal page?
To support California Hospital Medical Center meet their $100,000 goal. 100% of the funds raised will support its pandemic response and recovery efforts. Donate $1 and $1 goes to the hospital.
What is the deadline?

What will participants receive for completing the entire Bingo Card?
Participants will receive a raffle ticket for completing an entire Bingo Card. A raffle ticket provides participants with an opportunity to win some great raffle prizes. You can get more raffle tickets entered by fundraising! click here to learn more.
Is there a prize for the team with the highest number of Acts of Kindness activities/acts?
The team that completes the highest amounts of Acts of Kindness activities/acts will win our Acts of Kindness Champion trophy!
Where do participants send in their completed Bingo Cards?

What are the funds raised benefiting this year?
This year, 100% of donations will help address our hospital’s pandemic response and recovery efforts, including our “care for the caregivers” program to sustain our dedicated staff. To learn more about fundraising, click here.
Can I donate to a team or participant webpage?
Yes! Click on the home page and begin typing the team name, first name, or last name in the search bar below the donation thermometer. Your options will display as you type.
Can I donate via check?

How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant’s fundraising account?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please contact us.
Are donations tax-deductible?
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars?
Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.
Will I get a receipt?
Any donor who makes a donation online will receive a donation confirmation email. All donors (online and via check) will receive an acknowledgement letter for their donation, mailed to the address provided post-event.
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to California Hospital Medical Center Foundation.
Can I mail in a cash donation?
We do not recommend mailing cash donations. You can drop off the cash off at California Hospital Medical Center Foundation along with your information or you can deposit the cash and make an online donation to your own page on behalf of the donor.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to my page?
Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select ‘My Fundraising Reports on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team.
When will raffle prize winners be provided their raffle items?
Raffle prizes will be distributed the week of May 17th.
