The River City Ribbon 5K is shifting the conversation from individual cancer communities to unite
all cancer patients, families and survivors in a goal of providing local funds for local treatments.
The funds raised through the run will directly support the Joe & Virginia Schmissrauter Center for Cancer Support,
which provides free, holistic care to cancer patients and their families.

From education and symptom management to survivorship, they are dedicated to supporting your unique needs.
Whether patients need help finding transportation, financial assistance, counseling or spiritual care, they connect patients and families 
with valuable community resources so they can focus on healing and living their best life. 
 

In 2025, the Center for Cancer Support at Memorial Hospital provided over $38,000 to patients
who needed support in other areas of their life, so they could focus on treatment, rest and recovery.
This included:
 

$5,050 in transportation assistance

$5,899 in lodging assistance

$8,450 in rent assistance

$6,182 in mortgage assistance

$3,920 in grocery assistance

$6,427 in utility expenses
